Volunteer at SOSC Below are volunteer positions that may be available at Seven Oaks Senior Center. Please call the Center Director to schedule an interview if you are interested in any of the following positions. While we may not have an opening at the time of your inquiry, we'd still like to hear from you and will keep your contact information on file for when a position becomes available.
Receptionist Welcome and direct visitors; answer telephone and take messages; answer general and specific questions about the center, events and classes. Sell tickets for events. Register seniors for membership and classes. On the job training is provided. Pleasant customer service and phone skills will be rewarded with success in a friendly, people oriented environment. Select a shift between 8:30 a.m. - Noon or Noon - 4:30 p.m. Call staff for current openings. Not able to commit to a weekly shift? Become a substitute volunteer! You'll be trained in advance and we'll call you if a volunteer can not work their shift.
SOSC Events Committee Do you like planning events? Consider working on our special events committee and assist the event chairperson with developing and executing a special event for the center such as an outing, holiday party, luncheon, etc. Experience with event planning is preferred. Skill sets needed: able to work well with others, working within allotted budgets, and organization. Duties include menu planning, decorating, recruiting volunteers, and purchasing supplies.
Class Instructor Instructors are needed to share their special talents by teaching seniors. Class topics will depend on the individual's talents, but could include the following: Travelogue Presentations, Current Events Discussion, Digital Camera Skills, Aerobics, Foreign Language, Book Review, Crafts, Art, Fitness, History, Religion, Sewing, World Topics, etc. Individual should be friendly and enjoy working with senior citizens. The class should be scheduled Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm and can be offered on a weekly basis, bi--monthly, once a month or as a series.
