MEALS 

MEALS AT SOSC 
  • Nutritious meals are available to individuals age 60 and older and their spouses.
  • Meals are served once a day around noon. 
  • Meals meet the needs of people who watch their diet because of heart disease or diabetes.
  • Meals are provided free of charge but consumers may choose to give a contribution.
  • Call the SOSC or stop in to see what the center has to offer you.

SNAP PROGRAM (SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM)
  • SNAP is the new name for the Food Stamp program.
  • Eligible seniors use these benefits to buy food which increases their purchasing power at grocery stores and supermarkets.
  • Seniors participating in the SNAP program are also eligible for monthly food boxes

SENIOR FARMERS MARKET PROGRAM)
  • This program provides low-income older adults with four checks to buy fresh farm food grown in Omaha.
  • The age requirement is 60 years or older
  • The senior must meet eligibility guidelines
  • Each eligible senior may receive four $5.00 checks for a total benefit of $20.00 one time during the program year. 
  • Married couples are eligible to receive eight $5.00 checks for a total benefit of $40.00 one time during the program year.
